Improving Access to Science and Technology Higher Education in Resource-Poor Institutions through an Open Platform for Technology Enabled Active Learning Environment/ TEAL2.O
TEAL 2.O focuses on “Improving the access to science and technology higher education in resource-poor institutions through an open platform for technology enabled active learning environment”. Accordingly, a modular and open technology enabled active learning platform will be collaboratively developed, and relevant teaching and learning content will be designed to meet the needs of variety of users. This project spans for 3 years from December 2019 to November 2022.
The overall objective of the project is to improve access to high-quality and global-oriented S&T higher education in the Partner Countries through a cloud-based, open-access collaborative teaching & learning platform, and to build institutional capacities for providing high-quality Open and Distance Education (ODE) in S&T areas for a wide and diverse group of learners.
University of Peradeniya being the Coordinating Institution, implements this project in collaboration with 11 other institutions from Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Italy, Norway, Romania and Bulgaria. In this regard, Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC) has joined hands with these institutions in developing cloud-based, open-access collaborative teaching & learning platform that will provide access to different levels of higher education opportunities, ranging from those offered by the top ranked Universities of the world to those that need to be targeted to local and regional needs. Once developed, SLTC together with RK University India will be primarily responsible for the user testing of TEAL2.O.
